Research Projects

In the MDP, research takes many forms and importantly includes the act of designing. The projects included here result from both ongoing faculty research and concentrated summer research projects.

Each summer the Lab track hosts 3-4 projects led by Faculty Researchers, Visiting Researchers, or Summer Research Residents. Students participate as research interns.

Faculty Research is ongoing and the summer research projects provide an opportunity for faculty to pursue a focused idea with a student team as part of their longer term activities. External partners bring funding and expertise to support faculty research in the MDP.

Summer Research Residents are selected by a jury in response to a Call for Proposals. Summer Research Residents are funded by the MDP as part of our commitment to building a context for design-led research.
