2010: FRIENDS OF FRIENDS OF FRIENDS, Ben Hooker and Shona Kitchen

Faculty and Visiting Researchers

Friends of Friends of Friends is a research project which investigates new forms of collective experience. After a series of general investigations, the project focused on the ubiquitous parking lot as a site for a series of interactive design experiments. The team imagined the parking lot as a new class of space designed to act as a bridge between online social networking and the physical places we inhabit everyday. A ‘kit of parts’ of high- and low- tech components allowed the team to experiment in a parking lot by installing a series of hybrid infrastructures. The project is designed to act as a foundation for a larger scale design experiment due to be published in Summer 2013.
