EMEC

The Educational Media Equipment Center, known better as the EMEC or just Equipment Center, manages the photographic-centric inventories of the ArtCenter community. Not a part of any individual academic department, the EMEC circulates equipment on behalf of Film (Grad and Undergrad), Photography and Imaging, Entertainment Design, Fine Art, and several others across all campuses. Additionally, there is a supply of General Circulation equipment available to Students, Staff, and Faculty which can be used for individual projects, documenting work or exhibitions, or supporting classrooms and small events.

EMEC equipment is normally issued for short-term, temporary projects (such as a video shoot). Quantities and types of equipment, as well as their policies, are determined by individual academic departments. Equipment is circulated using WebCheckout software, which can not only track status of individual orders, but provide historical usage data, set authorization and certification lists, as well as manage repairs.

The EMEC’s mission two-fold, to support the academic endeavors of all ArtCenter community members, while maintaining the access, availability, and condition of departmental resources. These policies are designed to facilitate the fair, equitable, and high-achieving environment we know ArtCenter to be.

If you would like to checkout or reserve equipment from a physical EMEC location, or browse the resources you have access to via the online catalog, or simply know more about us, you’ll find a wealth of information below!
